The forward thinking project included the evaluation of LEED and SITES certifications for potential Norfolk Botanical Gardens improvements, including a Conservatory, 12,000 square foot Water Education and Rowing Facility, 4,000 square foot Gift, Ticket and Café buildings and a “parking garden”. Norfolk Botanical Gardens has a number of sustainable site practices and consideration of certification creates a potential pathway to showcase their green building initiatives and environmental consciousness.
Project Role
BCE conducted a site assessment, reviewed and analyzed existing documents, drawings, and narratives in order to provide an assessment of certification feasibility on multiple sites within the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. The feasibility of crediting crosswalk opportunities between rating systems, LEED Group certifications, single building LEED certification and LEED campus credits were considered. Additionally, BCE assisted with the preparation of LEED and SITES scorecards after evaluating site designs and stormwater management plans.
