The Izaak Walton Dam is listed in the National Inventory of Dams (NID) under ID VA800009 and is subject to the Virginia Impounding Structure Regulations (Regulations). Izaak Walton League wished to perform the tasks necessary to address the criteria specified in the Conditional Operation and Maintenance Certificate issued by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

Licensed Engineer Inspection Report, DCR Form 199-098:

BCE provided an annual inspection report, signed and sealed by a Virginia licensed, professional engineer.

Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) Report, DCR Form 199-236:

BCE prepared DCR Form 199-236 (if applicable) in accordance with the Regulations and DCR guidance documents. These PMP values were used in the Hazard Class Determination and the Dam Break Inundation Zone Analysis tasks described below.

Hazard Class Determination and Dam Break Inundation Zone (DBIZ) Analysis:

BCE performed a hazard potential classification study for the Izaak Walton Dam in accordance with the provisions of Section §10.1-604.1 of the Virginia Dam Safety Act, Section 4VAC50-20-40 of the Regulations and DCR guidance documents. Additionally, BCE performed hydrologic and hydraulic modeling necessary to perform the Dam Break Inundation Zone Analysis for the regulated impounding structure in accordance with the provisions of Section §10.1-606.2 of the Virginia Dam Safety Act, Section 4VAC50-20-54 of the Regulations, and DCR guidance documents.

Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP), DCR199-103:

BCE prepared an EPP including maps and procedures for notifying the owners of any downstream properties that may be impacted by an emergency situation at the dam.

Dam Safety Coordination:

BCE coordinated with DCR and will provide services for submitting necessary dam safety paper work in support of the Conditional Operation and Maintenance Permit and dam safety certification.
