The United States Army proposed to construct a Special Tactics Team Building and Human Performance Training Center SOF STS Operations Facilities on an approximately 4-acre undeveloped area located within Pope Air Force Base, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Blossom Consulting and Engineering Inc. (BCE) was tasked with analysis and design of the stormwater management system to meet North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and US Army regulatory guidelines.
The project included the development of hydrologic and hydraulic simulation models to evaluate the stormwater drainage system and stormwater management best management practices (BMPs).
Project Role
BCE was responsible for stormwater management design and analysis. As project manager, Mr. Blossom was responsible for analysis, quality assurance and engineering staff management.
BCE evaluated the pre- and post-development land use and soil properties to develop a stormwater management model to meet the U.S. Army requirement of volume match for the first 1.8 inches of runoff and peak flow attenuation for the 10-year 24-hour storm event. In addition, BCE evaluated the storm drainage pipe network for HGL and spread values for the 10-year, 24-hour storm event.
